“A contextually adapted model of school engagement in Kazakhstan” – a new article by NUGSE faculty

NU GSE Professor Daniel Hernández Torrano together with his colleagues from the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education and NU GSE postdoctoral scholar Ainur Almukhambetova published an article titled "A contextually adapted model of school engagement in Kazakhstan".

The article was published by the prestigious Current Psychology journal.

The study introduces a culturally adapted 17-item scale of school engagement to the context of Kazakhstan and offers an important contribution to the international literature by seeking to measure the school engagement of young people in a society undergoing transition from a collectivist to individualist mind-set alongside an education system focused on improving performance in international benchmarks such as PISA and TIMMS.
