Social Science Experimental Training Held at Georgia State University

Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education in partnership with AlmaU and the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan started their experimental economical training for the “The evaluation of challenges of youth in Kazakhstan and piloting innovative solutions” project, funded by USAID through the PEER program. The team has embarked on the third phase, during which the design of laboratory and field experiments are being developed. For the first time in Kazakhstan, these methods will be applied to develop educational and labor market solutions for NEET youth.

Laboratory experiment methods in economics and other social sciences have been actively developing for about 20 years in the world to test the behavior of people in a certain situation under the influence of various interventions.

The research team is exploring approaches to conducting a laboratory experiment based on ExCEN - the Center for Experimental Economics at the University of Georgia, led by Professor James Cox, an outstanding researcher who has published over 130 papers in applied and theoretical economics.

The project is being implemented by Nazarbayev University in partnership with AlmaU and the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan with the support of Georgia State University.
