NUGSE on the spotlight of CIES 2019 conference in San Francisco

The 63rd Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Annual Conference “Education for sustainability” is taking place in San Francisco, US from April 13-18 2019.  It is one of the biggest conferences in education, and over 3500 participants from 125 countries attended the conference.  Graduate School of Education was well represented by its faculty, postdocs, researchers and alumni who actively participated by giving talks in panel sessions, running workshops, and organizing roundtable talks.  The NUGSE delegates included Ali Ait Si Mhamed, Bridget Goodman, Dilrabo Jonbekova, Aliya Kuzhabekova, Adil Ashirbekov, Laura Karabassova and Duishon Shamatov.  NUGSE representative Kuralay Bozymbekova who is doing her PhD studies at Education University of Hong also presented her paper.  

NUGSE alumna who presented their papers included: Aray Saniyazova (works at NU), Laura Karabassova (Postdoc at NUGSE), Xeniya Tursunbayeva (works at NIS), Dana Abdrasheva (Education University of Hong Kong) and Zhuldyz Amankulova (PhD student at the University of Minnesota.  Zhuldyz who presented a paper "There are rules you have to know: International students, domestic student gatekeepers, and the institutional habitus of the university” shared her reflection after her talk: “Many thanks to NUGSE!  I am very proud to be an alumna of NU”. 

Congratulations to Ainur Almukhambetova, postdoctoral fellow at Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education on being awarded Best Dissertation award from the Comparative International Education Society (CIES) Eurasia SIG.
