GSE hosted an online international research seminar “Educational Research and Knowledge Production in Central Asia: Conceptual and Methodological Challenges and Opportunities”

On 14 May, Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education hosted an online international research seminar “Educational Research and Knowledge Production in Central Asia: Conceptual and Methodological Challenges and Opportunities” by Dr. Sarfaroz Niyozov.
Sarfaroz Niyozov is an Associate Professor of Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development as well as of Comparative, International and Development Education at OISE, University of Toronto. The seminar was attended by NUGSE faculty, researchers, Ph.D. and master`s students, alumni, guests, including educators and researchers from other organizations, as well as researchers from India, Pakistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Canada and European countries.
The seminar covered a range of important and serious issues, such as pragmatic and post-Soviet education, independence and decolonization & identity formation of new nation states, academic dependency, academic and methodological imperialism, as well as typology of research in Post-Soviet Central Asia and local –Southern reactions to it.
