Dr. Darkhan Bilyalov conducted a workshop titled “Helpful Free Tools for Research and Studies at the Graduate Level” at the University of Malaya

Our faculty member, Darkhan Bilyalov, conducted a workshop titled “Helpful Free Tools for Research and Studies at the Graduate Level” at the University of Malaya on October 22, 2019. The workshop was widely attended by about 40 participants most of whom were the UM Masters and PhD students. The workshop included such topics as a) practical applications to help with studying at the graduate level, b) tools for qualitative data analysis and speedy transcription of interviews, and c) data collection and free quantitative data analysis software packages. In addition to the workshop, the visiting lecturer has recorded a number of video instructions on how to use the various tools introduced in the workshop. These video instructions will benefit both the University of Malaya and Nazarbayev University students.

Dr. Darkhan Bilyalov has delivered a research talk called: “Faculty Societal Engagement: The Findings of a Nationwide Study of Academics in Kazakhstan”. The research presentation covered the findings of a recent nationwide study of more than a thousand academics conducted throughout Kazakhstan by Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education faculty. The research presentation was widely attended and yielded interesting questions from the audience. The study is a part of a global survey called Academic Profession in Knowledge Society that includes more than twenty countries. Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian country to participate in this important comparative study.
