How to improve teacher education in Kazakhstan? Learn best practices, share with colleagues, implement in practice.

About two thousand professors of educational institutions in different regions of Kazakhstan are being trained to raise teacher education in the country to a qualitative level. The training, which includes the study of trends in modern teacher education and ways to create a favorable educational environment, student-centered learning, IT competencies of teachers and digital pedagogy and other topics important for today, is conducted within the framework of the project "ITE Model Implementation and Strengthening of its Content".

Nazarbayev University's Graduate School of Education and Finnish universities became the partners of the large-scale project, the project is supported by the World Bank and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The trainings are conducted by professors of the Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University and experts from Finland.

"The Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University has so far implemented many professional educational projects aimed at systemic transformation of the Kazakhstani educational sphere and positive changes in it. Therefore, it is not by chance that we have been chosen as a partner of this large-scale, complex project. I hope that the goal of this project - the introduction of an improved model of teacher education and the adaptation of 30 educational programs will be successfully achieved», - says Aida Sagintayeva, vice head of the project and dean of the NU Graduate School of Education.

The project is planned to last until June this year and will involve about 2150 professors from 42 universities and principals from 50 rural schools.

"With Finnish experts and experts from Nazarbayev University we actively, in detail discussed creative approaches in education, innovative technologies, computer solutions, the impact and use of artificial intelligence, inclusion in education, interdisciplinary approach in education. This is a good platform where we gained new ideas that we will implement in our work», - shared his opinion about the training, Professor at Astana International University (AIU) Serik Nurkenov.

According to Zhanar Suleimenova, Professor at Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University, "It was an exciting immersion where I and my colleagues explored many important aspects, new ideas and approaches that will undoubtedly change our perception of modern education."

The project's participants also have a mission not only to learn the best global practices themselves, but also to further disseminate the knowledge and experience gained in their teams to their colleagues in the future.
