CARCEIT organized its inaugural “CARCEIT Researcher Development Workshop”→
CARCEIT proudly organized its inaugural "CARCEIT Researcher Development Workshop" on June 13-14, 2023. The event was a great success, providing participants with invaluable training and knowledge in various research methodologies. Laura Ibrayeva skillfully led the session on conducting bibliometric analysis using Vosviewer software, while Ainur Alpys guided participants through quantitative analysis with R-Studio. Marya Bekova, a certified NVivo trainer, shared her expertise on qualitative analysis using NVivo software.
In addition to the software training, Assel Sharimova led engaging discussions on the importance of conceptual frameworks, encouraging participants to reflect on their research practices. We were honored to have representatives from Melbourne University who conducted an engaging session on early childhood research, introducing the draw/write/tell technique.
The workshop also showcased the impressive research projects of CARCEIT awardees alumni Co-PIs, who shared their valuable insights and findings with the CARCEIT community. Assem Tazhiyeva, Dana Mambetalina, and Marya Ippolitova convincingly introduced the importance of their research project, which focuses on the impact of socio-economic factors on parental knowledge and engagement in early intervention for children with special needs.
Additionally, Dinara Mukhmejanova and Gulfiya Kuchumova shared their insightful research project on academic promotion and remuneration policies at private higher education institutions in Kazakhstan. Merey Tursynbayeva and Anar Abildina shed light on the impact of orientation programs on first-year students' academic performance in Kazakhstani universities. Finally, Ainur Almukhambetova captivated the audience with her research project, which explores the international mobility of STEM students in Kazakhstan within the context of the Russia-Ukraine war conflict. Research teams from other CARCEIT-funded projects led by faculty from GSE and NUSOM also provided brief updates on progress so far.
It was a truly inspiring and collaborative event, marked by shared learning, laughter and pizza. We look forward to organizing more such workshops in the future!
