The Graduate School of Education hosted a partners’ meeting with our strategic partners – the University of Cambridge and the University of Pennsylvania, on October 26-27, 2016. The meeting was especially remarkable because the faculty of the partner universities took part in our first Ph.D. in Education program graduates’ theses defense event, the result of five-year three-way partnership. It is worth noting that the Graduate School of Education is the first school at Nazarbayev University which launched a Ph.D. program. Moreover, it is the first and only Ph.D. program on leadership of education in Kazakhstan.
During the meetings, the partners also discussed ongoing cooperation on academic and research regarding dissertation co-supervision of GSE PhD students, recruiting of faculty, admission of students and development and realization of post-doctoral and new programs. During the meetings, the partners also conducted quality assurance measures of the implementation of approved GSE academic programs through focus groups, interviews and discussion with faculty, interviews with employers and presentation seminars on modernization of curriculum.
