New students have started their studies at GSE
Graduate School of Education held an orientation day. New 70 students majored in School Education, Higher Education and Inclusive Education in the program of Master of Science in Educational Leadership are about to start their academic journey holding background of professional experience in difference regional educational institutions.
Welcoming words were given by Vice president for international and student affairs Kadisha Dairova and Vice provost for academic affairs Loretta O’Donnell of Nazarbayev University. In her celebratory speech Kadisha Dairova expressed the importance of preparing our local capacity and hope that these students will go and share the knowledge gained at NU with colleagues at different regions of Kazakhstan upon completion of their degrees. “You can’t change the world until you prepare to change yourself”. And you are here to change, - asserted Loretta O’Donnel to newly admitted students.
Also school faculty members welcomed students at the event. They have shared information on their research areas and future academic study. Jason Sparks Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Education explained the study process to new masters students, also introducing academic and research projects.
University representatives like Department for Student Affairs, Office of the Registrar, Career and Advising Center presented by introducing student available services and answered to students questions. Students also were able to be introduced with University library, where they will spend most of their time on campus.
Next few days students will be engaged with academic orientation where school faculty along with instructors and teaching assistants will provide workshops which help to adjust in a new academic environment before they start intensive course sessions.
