Graduate School of Education has delivered Professional Development Program for Higher Education Leaders of Kazakhstan
A Professional Development Program for Higher Education Leaders of Kazakhstan, developed by GSE in partnership with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education was delivered on 11-19 December 2014 at Nazarbayev University. Fifteen senior officers from 30 Kazakhstani universities took part in the training to enhance their professional skills.
The Program is designed to help leaders of national and state universities develop their leadership capacities to enable their universities to function effectively under the conditions of education system restructuring in Kazakhstan. The Program focused on the issues of strategic planning and corporate governance, university management including system, environmental, institutional and personal effectiveness aspects of leadership to be able to respond to the reform agenda and bring about transformational change in institutions that this will require.
The Program embraced a range of professional development practices, including case study approach, discussion-based methods, round-table discussion, project work based on action planning. The Program focused on enabling the course participants to achieve strategic goals of their home universities and master best international practices in the context of Kazakhstan’s higher education sector.
''The Leadership Foundation is delighted to be building on its previous programmes with NUGSE by designing and delivering a leadership programme for Vice-Rectors and other senior leaders of Universities in Kazakhstan. The programme will feature change management and strategic planning along with related subjects. Part of the programme will be delivered in Astana and part in London where the group will visit Westminster University. All of the participants will develop action plans designed to strengthen their universities'', - says David Lock, Director of International projects of LFHE.

It should be noted that university leaders, who participated in the professional development program, organized by NUGSE, will continue working together. Meeting in Astana and regions, they will discuss the implementation of action plans, developed during the program, solve common problems and share the best practice.
