2nd year PhD student of Graduate School of Education presented the results of her study at the Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development in New York, USA. The topic of Aizhan’s presentation was “The Role of Governmental Training Program in Increasing Youth Employability Rate: Evidence from Kazakhstan”. In her study Aizhan explored the role of on-job-training program “Youth Practice”, that has been implementing since 2004 in Kazakhstan, in assisting graduates of universities and colleges to gain practical skills and find the first full-time job in Astana. International experts expressed their interest in continuing the research project in collaboration with them in future.
It should be noted that the conference on sustainable development was the 4th conference this year. Traditionally, the participants of the conference are scholars, policymakers, representatives of business, education, agriculture, innovations and technology, as well as NGO sectors. The key speakers on the conference this year were UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg, Minister of Education of Nigeria Mallam Adamu and others. The conference was held at Columbia University and was organized by UN in collaboration with Master’s in Development Practice Programs at Columbia University, in partnership with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network
