Consultative Group of Experts of the Roadmap Project held their first meeting on issues in the higher education sector
As part of the Project “Development of Strategic Directions for Education Reforms in Kazakhstan for 2015–2020”, a meeting of the Consultative Group on Higher Education was held on April 10, 2015 at Nazarbayev University. The work of the Consultative Group brought together Mary Canning of Irelands’ Higher Education Authority, an international expert on higher education t, Colleen McLaughlin of the University of Sussex, UK, an international expert on secondary education Fatima Zhakypova, Executive Director of the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Public Policy and Amantay Nurmagambetov, Acting Director of the Centre of Bologna process and Academic Mobility” of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, , Ramazan Alimkulov, President of JSC “Financial Centre”, Serik Omirbayev, Director of Academic Affairs of Independent Kazakhstan Quality Assurance Agency in Education, Murat Orunkhanov, Senior Researcher of Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education and Kairat Kurakbayev, Director of the Research Institute at Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education. The Consultative Group held discussions of the issues related to progress in the management of higher education reform, current financial issues of higher education, university admissions and student financial aid. International expert Mary Canning and national experts of the Consultative Group discussed the main directions for higher education in Kazakhstan for the current year. The next meeting of the Consultative Group is scheduled for June 2015.
